It is also the eleventh installment in the mainline Five Nights at Freddy's series, being teased in July of 2023 and officially released on most ports on May 24, 2024. Summary[]
FNAF TAKES ON PSHYCHOLOGICAL HORROR
Five Nights at Freddy's: The Conspiracy is the latest installment of the family-friendly horror games loved by millions of players from all over the globe, and sits smack-dead in the beginning of the end of our "Cooperative Era"! In the first episodic game of the franchise, you play as Steven Harding, a young man trying to keep his head together after the death of his parents.
Let's not spoil our best narrative game yet! We'll let you relive your dreams - or rather, your NIGHTMARES in free-roam story mode!
Plot[]
Gameplay[]
While the game is a free-roam game like Security Breach, it is the first game in the franchise to use a episodic story mode, which leads up to events, like a television show. Most of the gameplay takes place in Steven's dreams/hallucinations/paranoia, and as such most of the animatronics present during gameplay isn't necessarily real.
Minigames[]
During the game's episodic events, there are two side mini-games that delve into both lore, and are just there for plain fun. These include:
- 1993 Parts 1, 2 & 3 - A mini-game only present during the 6th episode/level/chapter, which dives into Dr. Snow's past and his trauma at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
- Job Hunting - A fun mini-game only present in the final episode/level in which Steven Harding continuously has to look for a job until he winds up at the Mega Pizzaplex.
Development[]
In July of 2023, Law Entertainment had posted a Rorschach test on their Twitter with the caption; "What do you see in this splatter? An animatronic bear? How interesting...", teasing their collaboration with Scott Cawthon.
On August 11, 2023, Law Entertainment had released a teaser video where an endoskeleton is being dragged to a dump and is then eventually swarmed by bees with the caption; "Bees form cults of their own. What an interesting conspiracy...". A later, Law Entertainment CEO Desdmund Blackridge revealed that the game's name will be present in the caption, revealing just a few hours later that the game's name will be "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Conspiracy".
On August 29, 2023, Scott Cawthon revealed via a Twitter post that the game will be an episodic story mode featuring 10 episodes/chapters each with a length spanning over 40 minutes.
On September 5, 2023, the title and length of each episode was revealed on scottgames.com. These are as follow:
- Chapter 1: Welcome to Hell - 44 minutes.
- Chapter 2: Structure - 42 minutes.
- Chapter 3: Special Delivery - 49 minutes.
- Chapter 4: Cretaceous - 45 minutes.
- Chapter 5: Lights Out - 66 minutes.
- Chapter 6: Requiem 1993/2024 - 57 minutes.
- Chapter 7: Grounded - 50 minutes.
- Chapter 8: Heart of Ice - 40 minutes.
- Chapter 9: Pale Creature - 45 minutes.
- Chapter 10: Final Bow - 62 minutes.
On September 17, 2023, both lawentertainmentgc.com & scottgames.com released character posters for the game. These included Steven Harding, Dr. Nathan Snow & Linda. On September 19, animatronic posters were released with a bonus final character listed as "?!?!!???!". The other animatronics include: Dream Chica, Bad Eggs, Magician's Rabbit, Tupandactylus & "The Body". Fans were quick to love the idea of a prehistoric animatronic while others were surprised by the small amount of animatronics present. On September 22, the hidden animatronics' name was revealed within it's image, that being "Geode_Animatronic.jpg".
On September 30, 2023, the first official poster of the game was released on both creators' websites, as well as Steam.
On December 22, 2023, a FNaF Christmas Card Collection was released featuring both Steven Harding & Linda. This was Linda's first reveal as a character, as well as the first mention of her in any media.
In March of 2024, both teaser trailers for the game was released. In the same month, Law Entertainment had said that there are already plans for a escape room DLC for the game, in which the protagonist of the current game as well as a secondary protagonist will face their fears at a Fazbear Escape Room. The consistency of the DLC's release was speculated, until Law Entertainment released a statement saying that, only if the main game performs good, will a DLC be worked on.
On May 24, 2024, the game was released.
On April 15, 2025, the Law Entertainment Twitter account confirmed that the reception of The Conspiracy was incredibly well-received and thusly, a DLC for the game is in-development.
On April 19, 2025, it was confirmed that both Steven Harding and Evangeline Bourguignon will return in major roles in the DLC. Subsequently a day later, a new character, Ramona, was revealed as the deuteragonist for the DLC, and will be voiced by Oscar and Emmy-nominated actress, Angela Bassett.
Reception[]

The official IMDb scores of the Cooperative Era games on the Law Entertainment Twitter.
Five Nights at Freddy's: The Conspiracy was received with relatively good reviews. It was praised for it's storytelling and it's usage on psychological horror, as well as it's visuals and character development. Many loved the darker toning and shift between timelines, as well as how gruesome and disturbing it can get at times.
On IMDb, the game scored a 7.9/10, the third highest in the franchise after Help Wanted with 8.0 & Help Wanted 2 with 8.3.
It received the highest Metacritic score of the franchise, with an 88 out of 100 rating.
Trivia[]
- As the game features a storyline that exists in the main Five Nights at Freddy's universe, however is not part of the main storyline, Scott Cawthon gave Law Entertainment permission to create their own story that builds lore outside the main storyline. After seeing the storyboard of The Conspiracy main writer Lucrèce Coquelin, Cawthon was highly disturbed with the turn the story took, and was so impressed that he convinced Steel Wool to add a reference to Steven Harding in RUIN to establish its canonisity.
- This game is one of two games in the franchise to not feature Bonnie or Foxy as antagonists, with the other game being Security Breach.
- This is the fourth free roam game in the franchise, excluding other games' DLCs, with the first three being Help Wanted, Security Breach and Help Wanted 2. Coincidentally, all of these games are from the Cooperative Era.
- This is the only game in the franchise to be available on Steam Deck.
- This is the only game in the franchise to be developed by Law Entertainment.
- The game's lead external design artists, Vihaan Francis and Marcus Murray, decided to put bees and bee-themed endeavours on the game's promotional and cover material due to the connection between bees in their colonies, following a singular leader without their own willpower, similarly to cults, which connect to the game's name, as cults are connected to conspiracies. Before this was revealed, players were intensely confused with the bees on the promotional art.
